F.A.Q: How is Rindle Different from Trello?

Through the process of delivering our private beta, we’ve spoken to many potential Rindle users. We so appreciate your questions and comments, as this communication is a key component in making Rindle the best personal task management tool available. One of the most common questions we’ve received is “How is Rindle different from Trello?”. So, for all of you who are wondering, we’ve created this post to outline the differences.

Why Rindle looks like Trello

If you’re familiar with Trello and have visited our site you’re probably thinking, “Man, these things look awfully similar!” This is because both applications utilize Kanban workflow visualization.


This means that rather than organizing tasks in a standard list, Trello and Rindle represent tasks with cards that can be dragged and dropped across various lists. Kanban allows for an easy-to-use and highly customizable visualization of your workflow. This is the main similarity between Rindle and Trello.

So how is Rindle different?

Although they look alike, there are three major differences that set Rindle apart.

Rindle is a personal task management tool

We’ve developed Rindle to be used by individuals to organize their personal workflows. Trello however, is much more tailored for use by teams. Trello’s features focus on collaboration between users while Rindle focuses on creating unique workflows that make sense to you.

The Rindle Stream: Manage tasks from all tools in one place

The Stream is a powerful feature that sets Rindle apart in a big way. Workflow Automation

Rindle simplifies the process of task management by allowing you to automate certain aspects of your workflow such as marking cards as complete, deleting or archiving cards, and even marking tasks as complete back in Trello, Basecamp, or Todoist.

To really help you understand how these applications are used differently, we’d like to talk about how we use them. That’s right, we use Trello! Along with Rindle of course. :)

Our team uses Trello to collaborate on tasks such as:

  1. The development of Rindle
  2. Rindle’s internal and public roadmap
  3. Our editorial planning

These tasks require us to share information with each other; a feature that Rindle does not provide. Trello also allows us to make our board public so that our customers may view our progress. In this way, Trello serves as an excellent platform for us to come together and plan as team.

Each of us also uses Rindle individually to manage our personal workflows. This is where Rindle shines. The things we manage on Trello is only a piece of what we have on our plates. We all have our own side projects, conversations, and tasks that will never end up on Trello, nor should they. Rindle serves as a single place to manage all our different tasks in a personalized, intuitive way.
